How to Clean and Maintain an Outdoor Wicker Furniture Set
With the proper care and maintenance, outdoor wicker furniture can remain strong and beautiful for many years. This simple guide will help you understand the basics of cleaning and maintaining outdoor wicker furniture.
Long-term Protection
It is important to consider where your outdoor wicker furniture set will reside throughout the year. While most outdoor furniture is designed to withstand the elements, direct exposure to sunlight and moisture can wear the furniture down and lessen its quality over the years.
Outdoor wicker furniture is best kept under a canopy or roof, out of the direct elements.
If a canopy or roof cannot be utilized, it is advisable to move the furniture into a dry place during long periods of rain, snow, or intense sunlight.
Alternatively, you can use a furniture cover or storage box to protect the cushions when they’re not in use.
Cleaning Outdoor Wicker Furniture
Regardless of how much effort you may put into protecting your outdoor furniture set, it will undoubtedly get dirty and need to be cleaned from time to time.
Fortunately, most dirt and grime can be easily removed with a mild detergent mixed with water. You may want to test the cleaner on an inconspicuous spot to make sure it doesn’t cause any discoloration to the fabric.
For deep cleaning, remove the foam inserts before beginning. Place the fabric on a firm flat surface and generously apply the water and detergent mixture. Gently scrub with a cloth or soft brush to remove the debris.
A water hose can be used to clean the wicker frames. Be sure all pieces are properly dried before placing them into long-term storage.
I have a Tortuga wicker patio set. Some of the plastic chair leg foot slides have come off and disappeared. Can you replace them for me?
